Penguins on Parade at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium Returns for 2019

The annual Penguins on Parade is returning to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, starting December 7th. Guests can watch the zoos penguins parade along the pathways outside of the aquarium every Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

This year, the parade will be led by the Zoo’s newest penguin chick, Iggy. “Since Iggy is young, I decided to do a test run with him to ensure that he was comfortable being outside in a new environment,” said Jessica Ries, Penguin Keeper at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. “But I didn’t have to worry. As soon as I opened the inside exhibit door Iggy was the first one out and went right to the door leading to the outside area. Iggy is definitely ready to go.”

The Zoo’s penguins are excited for their favorite event to start. They are naturally curious birds and the opportunity to venture outside and experience so many new sights and sounds is great enrichment for them. “I think the penguins have more fun than we do,” says Ries. Sounds like a Peng-Win for everyone.

Coming up this New Year’s Eve, guests can party like an animal by celebrating the new year at the PPG Aquarium. Noon Year’s Eve is a family-friendly event featuring live entertainment, fun crafts and face-painters. The event, located indoors at PPG Aquarium features a ball drop at noon! The event and its activities are all included with your  zoo admission.
