The San Antonio park announced Werewolf Gorge, unveiling a first-of-its-kind family launch coaster that will debut during the park’s 35th anniversary season in 2027. The new attraction will become both the world’s longest family launch roller coaster and the longest roller coaster ever built at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Manufactured by Vekoma, Werewolf Gorge will stretch 4,120 feet through the park’s iconic quarry landscape and deliver a ride experience lasting approximately 2 minutes and 36 seconds. Riders will encounter four separate launches, reach speeds of up to 45mph, and experience 32 floater airtime moments, a figure the park says is the highest ever incorporated into a family roller coaster.

What makes the attraction particularly unique is the combination of ride elements packed into a single experience. Along with its four launches, Werewolf Gorge will feature a mid-course rollback and a minimum height requirement of just 39 inches, creating an attraction designed to appeal to families while still delivering a substantial thrill factor.

“This is a defining addition to Six Flags Fiesta Texas,” said Park Manager Robert Bustle. “Werewolf Gorge brings together storytelling, innovation and a bold combination of ride elements that truly sets it apart. It delivers an experience that is approachable for families, yet unmatched anywhere in the world.”

Werewolf Gorge will place guests in the middle of a mysterious Texas quarry rumored to be haunted by a centuries-old werewolf curse. Inspired by the park’s real-world quarry setting, the attraction begins as a seemingly ordinary mining tour before quickly transforming into a high-speed escape through rugged terrain.

Along the way, riders will race through quarry walls and dense pine groves, powered by four launches strategically integrated throughout the layout. The coaster will also feature a 40-foot drop, an overall elevation change of 85 feet, and numerous airtime moments designed to create a floating sensation throughout the ride.

The experience will include close encounters with towering werewolf figures, immersive scenic elements, and a dramatic finale that sends riders through a collapsing quarry structure filled with glowing eyes and mysterious movement.

The storytelling extends well beyond the coaster itself. Guests entering the attraction will pass through themed environments connected to Jasper Bunyan, a fictional entrepreneur who transformed the abandoned quarry into a roadside attraction focused on cryptid legends and unexplained mysteries.

As part of the experience, visitors will explore themed queue areas including the Museum of Cryptids and the Werewolf Museum before boarding the ride.

The announcement follows a lengthy marketing campaign that began in 2025, when Six Flags Fiesta Texas started teasing the attraction through a series of cryptic full moon-themed activations around the park.

The coaster was officially revealed during a special nighttime event, timed to coincide with a rare blue full moon and the attraction’s supernatural storyline.

Guests attending the presentation were treated to a themed production that culminated with the reveal of the coaster, followed by a drone show that illuminated the sky with the attraction’s logo.

Werewolf Gorge is scheduled to open in 2027 as part of Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ 35th anniversary celebration.

The addition continues the park’s investment in family-focused attractions while adding another major coaster to a lineup that already includes Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger, Iron Rattler, Batman: The Ride, and Superman Krypton Coaster.

Located within a former limestone quarry in San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas has become known for combining its unique terrain with record-breaking attractions, live entertainment, and seasonal events such as Mardi Gras Festival, Fright Fest, and Holiday in the Park.

Additional details, including an opening date, are expected to be announced closer to the attraction’s 2027 debut.
