Water Park Owner Chains Himself To A Slide To Save The Park!
What The What?!!?! You read the headline right. Kevin Dumont is the owner of Liquid Planet in Candia, New Hampshire and has opted to chain himself to a water tower slide. Dumont calls it his last effort to save his park from closing it’s doors for good. Unfortunately, the park was foreclosed on by the lender and now there’s an auction set for December 2nd. Wonder how things got so bad for the park? The Department of Environmental Services found high volumes of bacteria and other contamination in the water; that’s when the State of New Hampshire demanded the park be shut down immediately back in August. If that weren’t enough, the Speed Slides were operating at the park without the Department’s approval of the design.
It’s very beautiful up here but also pretty lonely. -Kevin Dumont, owner of troubled Liquid Planet
Dumont also claims the economic slump in 2008 and two years of rainy seasons have caused a damper on the water park’s fortunes. He’s looking for partners that will help him get out of debt, which comes to the tune of $1.5 million. When you log onto the water park’s website, you’ll see the a GoFundMe button for any interested supporters that wish to donate to the cause. Despite sleeping in a tent on the slide and staying there for all day, Dumont states he isn’t crazy. [Well, I guess we’re all a little coaster crazy or something, right?!!]
