IAAPA Returns To Orlando With New Innovations And New Thrills
Every year new rides and new technology is debuted at theme parks and fun centers around the world. Before those parks purchase and reveal the rides, they have a lot of planning and shopping to do.. usually around 5 years ahead of time. So right now, parks are looking at possible attractions etc for the year 2021 and beyond… let that sink in.
7D simulators, Robots that serve ice cream, free-style coke machines, funnel cake sticks, laser break through, an electronic ticketing system, or a new ride (such as Dollywood’s Lightning Rod coaster). If you have recently been to an amusement park, a fun center, or a carnival, chances are that you have witnessed one of these products. Have you ever wondered how did they get that idea? Or why did they choose that? IAAPA expo is the answer.
The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) is an annual expo held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. IAAPA offers the latest and greatest innovations amusement industries including theme parks, water parks, haunted attractions, fun centers, zoos, aquariums, museums, science centers, resorts, and casinos.
Over 1,000 companies from nearly 40 countries have already reserved approximately 553,000 net square feet of exhibit space for IAAPA Attractions Expo 2015, making it the second largest trade show floor in the event’s 97-year history. Indoor space has sold out, and a limited amount of outdoor space is still available. More than 28,000 people from 100 countries will participate in this week long event.
Highlights of IAAPA 2015 include an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Disney’s Hollywood Studio’s “From Curtain Up to Curtain Down” tour, the IAAPA Celebrates event at I-Drive 360; Orlando’s new attractions complex featuring three new world-class attractions, including the Orlando Eye observation wheel; Madame Tussauds, celebrity wax attraction; and the SEA LIFE Orlando aquarium. Plus behind-the-scenes tours at Legoland, SeaWorld, Universal Studios and more!
IAAPA helps their members improve efficiency, marketing, safety, and profitability of their amusement businesses.
During the week long trade show, attendees have the opportunity to review, test, and purchase products such as simulators, rollercoaster harnesses, inflatables, arcade games, carnival food, slides, and zip-lines.
The massive trade show exhibits cover every inch of the convention’s building. In fact, IAAPA is the largest international trade association for permanently situated amusement facilities worldwide.
“IAAPA Attractions Expo is the global marketplace for the attractions industry and a must-attend event for industry buyers and decision makers looking for what’s new, now, and next to drive their business,” said IAAPA President and CEO Paul Noland. “The trade show floor is massive. In fact, you’ll walk more than nine miles of aisles if you want to see all of the great, business-changing innovations featured at this year’s Expo.”
The trade show extends outside to the “Outdoor Exhibits” area. The Outdoor exhibits contain products such as Ferris Wheels and inflatables, that are too large to fit inside of the convention center.
In addition to testing new products, attendees can also attend more than 100 informational seminars, luncheons, round table discussions, behind-the-scenes tours, day-long institutes, and half-day symposiums. These organized functions are provided to keep attraction industry professionals, management, and CEO’s up to date with the latest developments.
“Attractions industry professionals have a great opportunity to expand their knowledge at IAAPA Attractions Expo,” said Rebecca Turner, IAAPA’s vice president of education, professional development, and training services. “These programs will give attendees a competitive edge and a sneak peek at the future of the attractions industry.”
Vendors from all over the world will display their new products, ideas, and technologies this week. Everything that can be seen at a amusement park or attraction will be on display! Even giant Angry Birds…
“IAAPA Attractions Expo is where our industry’s game-changing new products and best ideas come to the forefront,” said IAAPA President and CEO Paul Noland. “Many of our industry’s most successful attractions find the inspiration for their next guest experiences on our trade show floor.”
The organization represents more than 4,300 facility, supplier, and individual members from more than 97 countries. Because of this, IAAPA’s tradeshow is exclusive from the public. Over the next week, Dan and Brett will be providing updates of IAAPA’s show floor as well as live coverage of new and innovative products that will be in parks and attractions in the near future.
