Walt Disney Company Takes Full Ownership of Disneyland Paris
Earlier this week, the Walt Disney Company was successful in taking over complete control of Disneyland Paris (aka Euro Disney). This includes Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios theme park, Disney Village, and the rest of the resort including several hotels.
Laws in France require Disney to own 95% of the stock. They were able to reach 97.08%. The remaining shareholders will have their shares automatically redeemed at €2 each.
This is good news for anyone who has followed the story of Euro Disney and noticed that the park was not doing so well the last few years. You could blame several reasons for that as Paris itself had been hit with quite a few tragic events and the general decline in “Disney quality” at the park the last few years.
We have no doubt that Disney will be able to turn this place around now that they do not have to answer to anyone else and we can only hope that there will be a few surprises at D23 this year for the Paris resort!
Disneyland Paris is located 20 miles east of Paris, the resort is on 4,800 acres, including two theme parks, 7 hotels, a golf course, and two shopping districts and multiple dining and entertainment venues.
Disneyland is one of the most beautiful theme parks in the world, it also features some of the more unique Disney rides including Phantom Manor (Their take on the Haunted Mansion), Alice’s Curious Labyrinth, and Space Mountain: Mission 2 which is themed around Jules Verne’s 1865 novel From the Earth to the Moon.
Walt Disney Studios is the second park at the resort and here you can still find the Backlot Tour (Gone from Disney’s Hollywood Studios), along with a copy of Tower of Terror (Gone from DCA), and a different version of Rockin’ Roller Coaster. The park also has several unique Pixar attractions which you cannot find anywhere else including the Ratatouille trackless dark ride and Finding Nemo indoor spinning coaster, there is also a Toy Story Land like the one you will find at Hong Kong Disneyland.
This next era of the Paris resort is sure to be a refreshing one and we cannot wait to see what the Walt Disney Company has in store for the future.
