VIDEO: SeaWorld Orlando Confirms New Roller Coaster Coming in 2020
SeaWorld Orlando has confirmed that they are building a new roller coaster that’s set to debut in 2020!
The announcement was sent to us with a 20-second teaser video that provided no details about the attraction, other than to declare it will feature “plunging thrills” and “predatory heights.” The video takes riders through a series of snowy mountains with deep dives, twists, and turns. Although the video says the ride will debut in 2020, the exact date or any other details are unknown. Check out the teaser video below.
It’s been nearly three years since SeaWorld opened a new roller coaster at their Orlando park. The grand opening for Mako, the steel coaster that travels up to 73 mph, was held June 10, 2016.
At IAAPA, an international expo for amusement parks and attractions, SeaWorld Entertainment leaders have said their plan is to add a new ride or experience at each of their 12 parks across the country every year in hopes of pushing their attendance increases further within the company. Just down the road in Tampa, the company recently opened a multi-launch Tigris coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.
SeaWorld Orlando’s sister park in San Diego is installing a Bolliger & Mabillard Dive Coaster in 2020, while their Busch Gardens Tampa park is going for a Rocky Mountain Construction retrack of the former Gwazi coaster. That one will surpass Cedar Point’s Steel Vengeance as the tallest, fastest and steepest hybrid coaster in the world, so SeaWorld Orlando is going to need something pretty compelling about its new coaster to sway attention from that ride.
The aggressive plan for expansion also comes as the Orlando-based company seeks to save millions of dollars and has undergone rounds of lay offs three times in about 20 months, including most recently in April.
Attendance is rockin’ at theme parks everywhere right now, especially in Orlando. Every major amusement park around the country seems to be revealing or opening a new major attraction with more and more details and theming than the last.

Last week, Busch Gardens Williamsburg opened their new water coaster to rave reviews!
