Steel Vengeance Construction Update At Cedar Point
Ever since Steel Vengeance was announced, the hype surrounding the world’s first hyper-hybrid coaster has been nonstop. While enthusiasts have been waiting for more information, the park’s PR guy Tony Clark, finally shared some updates regarding the new additions.
One of the most noticeable changes is the entrance plaza for the coaster has been completely redone. Installing underground utility lines and drainage systems are a work in progress.
The giant rock backdrop for the new Steel Vengeance sign is now in place. When the ride opens to the public on May 5th, the massive sign will be a focal point of the plaza.
Along with the plaza, the entrance and exit routes are also being revamped. For those who rode Mean Streak, the line will use the same tunnels underneath the structure as before. However, for Steel Vengeance, a Fast Lane Plus queue has been added.
Unlike the entrance routes, the routes of egress will be totally changed for the new attraction. Instead of a long ramp, there will now be stairs for those exiting the ride. There will also be an elevator included for those that need alternate access.
As with most new coasters, there will be an on-ride photo booth at the end of the exit path. However, the location of the on-ride camera has not been disclosed yet by the park.
By looking at the photos it may seem like everything is close to being ready, but there’s still a lot work that needs to be done before the ride can open. The trains haven’t arrived to the park yet, and the controls, lift chain, sensors, brakes, all still need to be installed.
Steel Vengeance will shatter 10 world records when it opens in May. Riders will drop 200 feet at a 90 degree angle, as well as encounter four unique inversions throughout the two-and-a-half minute experience.
