Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces Year Round Operation
Today Six Flags Magic Mountain announced that they will be launching 365-day operation beginning January 1, 2018. This move into the destination travel market will make Six Flags’ operating calendar on par with all of the other theme parks in southern California. Currently, both Magic Mountain and its accompanying water park, Hurricane Harbor, have limited operating schedules. Magic Mountain runs year round on weekends and holidays during the off season and daily throughout the spring and summer.
This change will be beneficial for Six Flags as the park is located in one of the biggest U.S. travel markets – Los Angeles. The area sees about 47 million visitors annually in addition to the 24-million residents of Southern California.
“This is great news for Los Angeles. By opening the park all year round, Six Flags is significantly enhancing the tourism and travel industry, creating jobs and spurring economic growth for the entire region,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.
Currently Six Flags offers 19 coasters and over 100 rides, shows and attractions as well as award-winning events like Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park. These new operating days mean that we’ll be seeing new events happening during those added days.
The park also hopes to create new opportunities for many market segments that visit during the off season such as school groups and business travel. In addition, season passholders will get to enjoy the benefits to these added days as well. Now, they will be able to visit Six Flags Magic Mountain any day of the year without any blackout dates including events like Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park.
