Six Flags Great America Chicago Announces New Thrill Ride For 2024
Today, Six Flags Great America in Chicago, known as the Thrill Capital of the Midwest, unveiled exciting news about their upcoming attraction, Sky Striker, set to premiere in spring 2024.
Soaring to a staggering height of 17 stories, this remarkable pendulum thrill ride will achieve speeds of up to 75 miles per hour while providing riders with an awe-inspiring panorama of the park’s skyline as it swings back and forth, ascending to greater heights.
“Six Flags has a history of superior ride innovation and we’re excited to introduce this major thrill ride coming to Six Flags Great America,” said Six Flags Great America Park President, John Krajnak. “Sky Striker will be the perfect complement to the record-breaking lineup of roller coasters and thrill attractions that our guests look forward to season after season.”
Sky Striker is a Giga Discovery ride made by Italian manufacturer Zamperla, that sends riders on a breathtaking journey to extreme heights. Highlights include:
- Massive, 17-story pendulum that glides effortlessly back and forth while rotating clockwise;
- Speeds of nearly 75 miles per hour;
- Intense feeling of weightlessness at an astounding 172 feet in the air.
Another smaller pendulum swing ride is currently located in the park’s County Fair area that goes by the name of Revolution. In contrast to the colossal Sky Striker, Revolution is noticeably smaller in scale. While the park has made exciting announcements about the debut of Sky Striker, they have chosen to keep the fate of Revolution shrouded in mystery.
Great America has remained tight-lipped regarding Revolution’s future within the park. They neither confirmed its removal from the premises, nor disclosed any plans of relocating it to another area of the park. Furthermore, they have not ruled out the possibility of Revolution continuing to operate in its current location, leaving park enthusiasts and thrill-seekers in eager anticipation of what’s to come for the smaller ride.
Sky Striker is set to make its debut in the County Fair section of the park in the Spring of 2024, taking the place of the former Dare Devil Dive attraction.
