SeaWorld Orlando Announces New Roller Coaster For 2016
The long time rumor is now officially true! During an employee meeting at SeaWorld Orlando, park execs made an announcement that a new 200 ft coaster would be installed at the park in 2016. The news comes a little more than a month after SeaWorld Entertainment announced Joel Manby as the company’s new President and CEO.

After the announcement, SeaWorld posted this tweet.
The park didn’t release too many details, but said there will be a full reveal in late May. The new coaster will break some Florida records. It will be over 200 feet tall and travel 4,429 feet of track at speeds of 70 mph. Of course this record will be broken as soon as the 500 ft tall SkyScraper Coaster is completed on i-drive.
Here’s the short press release emailed from the park:
“Something is stirring beneath the surface at SeaWorld Orlando, preparing to rise from the ocean depths and soar to thrilling new heights. Get ready for the frenzy of SeaWorld’s new 200-foot-tall coaster. In 2016, this thriller will take its place atop the food chain as Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest coaster. More details on the new addition will surface in late-May. SeaWorld is a one-of-a-kind theme park with a variety of attractions including awe-inspiring animal encounters, thrilling rides and spectacular shows. Follow #nothingfaster as the frenzy starts”.
Some fans are guessing the new ride will be built by B&M, but after seeing all the park reps hovering the Mack booth at IAAPA, we are going out on a limb and guessing the new ride will be made by Mack Rides, who the park has worked with on multiple projects in the past and is also rumored to be building the new coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa. (the ride mfg was not confirmed, it’s just our guess)

After a never-ending battle over the blackfish film, this is exactly the push SeaWorld needs. Some may wonder why the park did’t create a big media event for the announcement, but the truth is, reps thought a “planned leak” style announcement would create more buzz.. Take it for what it is.. but… we are writing about it and your reading it! After the announcement, SeaWorld Entertainment’s stock rose 1.7 percent Friday to $21.49.
