Cedar Point Registers Trademark For Valravn – New Coaster?
First it was Leviathan at Canada’s Wonderland, (people can say that now), then Rougarou at Cedar Point, (people can kind of say that now), and now “Valravn“? Cedar Fair, specifically “Cedar Point Park LLC”, has filed the trademark for “Valravn” for a multitude of uses, including an amusement park ride name and merchandise.
What is Valravn one might ask? Here’s the definition from Wikipedia:
“In Danish folklore, a Valravn (Danish “raven of the slain”) is a supernatural raven. The ravens appear in traditional Danish folk songs, where they are described as originating from ravens who consume the bodies of the dead on the battlefield, as capable of turning into the form of a knight after consuming the heart of a child, and, alternately, as half-wolf and half-raven creatures”.
Tons of rumors point to Cedar Point getting a B&M dive machine for 2016. (Dive coaster rumor here). Could this be the theme for it? Or could it be the theme of the rumored new dark ride for cedar Point? Cedar Fair President Matt Ouimet, did say recently in a statement that they want to get a new dark ride into every Cedar Fair park.
Cedar Fair is known to do stunts to throw everyone off including their competitors. Remember back when Cedar Point trademarked Whyte Lightning while the park was building their water ride Shoot the Rapids? That was a crazy twist as the park went as far as mailing out moonshine bottles with “Whyte Lightning” printed on them and a comic note inside”.
Parks are getting really creative with announcements of their new rides. So, until the company makes an official announcement, it’s all just a guess of which, if any, ride will be named Valravn…
