Mantis Gets Squashed At Cedar Point In 2015
After months of rumors and speculation, Cedar Point has officially announced their new addition for 2015! It’s the “last stand” for one of the parks steel scream machines.
Cedar Point spokesman Tony Clark has been teasing the new addition on social media the past few days. But today the park announced that the Mantis will indeed get squashed!
“It’s time to say goodbye to one of the park’s coasters, and it’s certainly been a different kind of ride for our guests,” said Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “But we’re extremely excited about what the future holds here at the Roller Coaster Capital of the World.”
As promised, Cedar Point released the video teaser below at At 12:00pm today on the dot.
What does that mean? It could still go in many directions as they didn’t say weather the ride will go with a new name, new colors, or a new floorless style. We will have to wait to find out the exact details. Our guess is that they will be repainting the Mantis, and converting the trains to a floorless style. But that’s just our guess…
What we do know is that guests still have time to give Mantis a “standing ovation” before it shuts down permanently on Sunday, October 19 at 8 p.m. Additional plans for the 2015 season will be announced at a later date.
