Lost Island Theme Park Unveils New RMC Roller Coaster
In celebration of National Roller Coaster Day, Lost Island Theme Park in Waterloo, Iowa, has revealed plans for its latest thrill ride: Fire Runner, a state-of-the-art single-rail roller coaster set to debut in the 2025 season. This eagerly anticipated addition marks the sixth Raptor model coaster to be constructed in the United States by renowned roller coaster manufacturer Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC).
Fire Runner promises adrenaline-pumping excitement, featuring three inversions, a top speed of 52 miles per hour, and a track length of 1,950 feet. While the design closely follows the original Raptor layout, the track is slightly longer by 150 feet, suggesting a customized experience for thrill-seekers.
In a departure from previous RMC Raptors, Fire Runner will boast a unique lead car design, leading two trains of twelve cars each. This is a notable change from earlier models, which featured fewer cars per train—eight in the original versions and ten in Silverwood’s Stunt Pilot.
The introduction of Fire Runner will be the first new roller coaster at Lost Island Theme Park since its grand opening in 2022, bringing the park’s total coaster count to four.
