Lake Compounce Announces Ride Removal
The Covid-19 Pandemic has forced many parks and chains to alter their plans. Over the past week, Palace Entertainment, a subsidiary of Parque Reunidos, announced several ride removals — 4 at Kennywood and 3 at Idlewild. This left many park fanatics wondering if there would be ride removals at other Palace Entertainment parks such as Lake Compounce in Bristol.

Today, the park announced that Wipeout, a Chance Trabant that has been at the park since 2009, would be removed. The park made the announcement publicly via Facebook:
Even at North America’s oldest amusement park, change is a constant. Part of the evolution is a continuous examination of the sustainability and popularity of our attraction lineup. As part of that process, Wipeout is being retired at Lake Compounce.
While Wipeout has created countless unforgettable memories for our Guests and Team Members, we have determined the best path forward at this time is to say goodbye. We look forward to adding new attractions and experiences that create new moments to treasure in future seasons.

The 2021 season brings the opening of Venus Vortex — a unique waterslide standing over six stories tall!

Resembling the mouth of a hungry venus flytrap ready for its next meal, this slide tempts brave prey to navigate twists, turns and sudden drops. After journeying through a dark tunnel, riders experience weightlessness as they suddenly plummet down the near vertical drop into the jaws of the hungry creature. As your three-person raft slides back and forth in between rows of teeth, you must escape before it traps you inside. Take a big sigh of relief as your raft reaches the final splashdown: you’ve narrowly missed being eaten!
