Knott’s Scary Farm To Debut Three New Haunted Attractions
Knott’s Scary Farm announced that for the 2017 season it will be unveiling a slew of new attractions. This includes three new mazes, an updated Fiesta Village scare zone, and a family friendly spooky overlay from the Timber Mountain Log ride. In addition, the famed “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark” show, will make its final run this season.
Knott’s invited us to a special announcement event, where the Knott’s Scary Farm team explained that they are focusing on bringing the entire park to guests as its own attraction. In an effort to do that, there are mazes themed to scare zones and hidden scary details all through the park that guests will have to explore and find themselves. At the special event, we got the inside scoop on this year’s event that will run for 25 nights beginning on September 21.
New merchandise for the 2017 Haunt event was on display as well.
Now, for the new attractions at this year’s Halloween event.
Trick or Treat: Lights Out
Guests will be given a single flashlight to guide their way through the Green Witch’s haunted home, which will be in complete darkness. The only catch is these flashlights are controlled by the maze itself. They will turn off, on, and change colors to reveal monsters, scares, and hidden messages.
Dark Ride
Themed around the Carnevil Scare Zone, Dark Ride is a journey through an abandoned carnival ride, that shunned side show freaks have made their home. This maze will lead those brave enough to enter into the bowels of long neglected attraction as sinister as the sideshow freaks and shunned performers who lurk in the shadows.
Pumpkin Eater
Themed around the Hallows Scare Zone, Pumpkin Eater is an escape from the wrath of a 7-foot tall monster. Guests will go on a quest through the silent town of victims, face a cave of insects and solve a labyrinth of thorns
Fiesta de Los Muertos Scare Zone
What used to be a dance party with roaming monsters has now been converted exclusively into a Scare Zone. “Nowhere in the park is safe anymore” Knotts officials said during the reveal.
Timber Mountain Log Ride Halloween Hootenanny
This family friendly spooky overlay of the historic log ride will be the first inclusion into Haunt since it big refurbishment a few years back. It will feature an original song performed by park favorite, Crazy Kirk and the Hillbillies.
Fright & Fast Lane
This year, guests can scream and ride all night long. The pass gives priority access to all mazes as well as priority boarding on all Fast Lane rides.
In addition to everything new this year, some favorites will be returning. They are:
Paranormal Inc. Shadowlands, Special Ops: Infected, Voodoo: Order of the Serpent, The Red barn, and The Tooth Fairy.
After the announcement event concluded, the Knott’s Scary Farm Creative Team hosted a LIVE Q&A session with media and invited guests. There were quite a bit of interesting questions that dig deeper into the new attractions, plus, questions about the former Fear VR attraction. Could it be making a return? Watch the LIVE Q&A session in it’s entirety below.
