Kennywood Warns Fans About Facebook Ticket Scam

A recent facebook scam is trying to trick amusement park-goers. A few weeks ago, a survey went around social media offering five free tickets to Knoebels Amusement Resort if you complete it and share the link.

After the ruse was discovered, it seems the people behind the Knoebels ticket scam focused in on Kennywood, another iconic Pennsylvania amusement park. Kennywood warns park-goers that the survey is a scam that is not affiliated with the park in any way. Numerous complaints to park officials, led the park to post this on their Facebook page:

“This is a SCAM that is not affiliated with Kennywood in any way. It appears this survey is pretending to represent Kennywood, and there are similar versions claiming to offer free passes to other Pennsylvania amusement parks.”

“The big red flag is that it’s ran through an unaffiliated web site,” Nick Paradise, Kennywood’s director of public relations and social media, said. “Any official Kennywood sweepstakes or survey would be ran through Kennywood.com.”

Paradise also says another red flag is that the scam claims to be offering tickets in honor of the park’s 125th anniversary, but this year is only the park’s 120th season of operations.

Even though the scam has the park’s logo on it, do not be fooled. One can purchase authentic Kennywood tickets online or at the park. For tickets and more information, visit the official Kennywood website by clicking here.
