HAuNTcon Haunted House Convention Heads To Nashville!
Haunted Attraction convention season is about to kick off! This year, we will be attending and live posting from more Halloween trade shows and conventions than ever before! We will kick off 2017 by attending HAuNTcon, one of the premier conventions in the haunt industry. This year, the “traveling” convention will take place in Nashville, Tennessee, January 26-30, 2017 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel.
“Designed by Haunters, for Haunters”, HAuNTcon is open to haunters of every level bringing people who love Haunted Houses, Halloween, and scaring people, together for six fun-filled days and nights. The convention will feature Behind-the-Scenes Haunt Tours, more than 60 hours of education education, a Vendor Floor, and Networking. The convention is rounded out by a Haunted Garage Sale, the Annual HAuNTcon Costume Ball, and full day workshops!
Hosting the show from a new, different city each year allows HauNTcon to offer off-season tours of haunted houses for attendees within that local area. Haunt tours allow haunt owners, home haunters, haunt actors, and Halloween enthusiasts an inside look at pro-haunts both in full operation and lights-on backstage.
Haunt Tours
HAuNTcon literally hits the road on January 25 with the Pre-show Inspiration Tour. The 2 day bus tour includes admission to 14 attractions at 9 different locations. The pre-show bus tour also includes a stop at Rattle and Snap plantation, PLUS, a once in a lifetime opportunity to tour Froggy’s Fog’s production warehouse. Attendees will see how professional fog fluid is made plus receive a free scent from Froggy’s Fog!
While some attractions will be staffed with actors in full October mode for your “fright-tainment,” attendees will also get a behind-the-scenes look during backstage lights-on tours. Pre-show tour tickets include motor-coach transportation, meals, and tours of a many diverse offerings; from behind-the-scenes lights-on at the highly detailed Nashville Nightmare, to the massive Skeleton’s Lair Scream Park complete with a haunted hayride! This year will also feature a tour of an authentic Tennessee plantation house, which we are pretty excited to see!
Without time to even catch a breath, the HAuNTcon schedule continues Thursday night with the Kick-off Haunt Tour of Haunted Hell Nashville. The Haunt Tours are rolling again on Saturday with an October style tour of Nashville Nightmare, a massive 50,000 sq ft, four element event. Sunday night buses will take guests to Nashville’s longest running haunted attraction, Slaughterhouse. Tickets for this tour are limited and will sell out!
Seminars and Workshops
Education is a key component of HAuNTcon. Classes begin early Friday morning and run through Monday afternoon. Over 60 hours of education is offered during the convention FREE WITH SHOW ADMISSION! Creative Sessions, Business Seminars, Hands-on Workshops, Make-Up and Product Demonstrations are all designed to provide cutting edge information along with tips and tricks to show attendees ways to do what they do better, faster, easier, and cheaper.
NEW this year is “Ask the Experts” Roundtable Discussions! Industry experts will be placed at a table with a designated topic. Join their table and engage in sharing questions, answers, and experiences amongst the expert and peers. After 15 minutes, participants can choose to move to the next table or continue the discussion at their current table. Topics include design, theming, creative storytelling, actor management, home haunting, escape rooms, makeup, airbrushing, branding your haunt, marketing, social media, legal matters, audio, video, hayrides, and more!

Buy and Sell
Coinciding with the Education, HAuNTcon offers a “Cash and Carry” Tradeshow Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Attendees can get a head start on purchasing and placing orders for the industry’s NEWEST haunting products and services.
Since HAuNTcon is in January, many of the vendors will be releasing their 2017 product lines on the show floor! Quality Haunt Vendors like Gantom Lighting and Controls, Froggys Fog, Hot Wire Foam Factory, AEO Studios, Inc. to name a few, will be selling the latest in animations, makeup and props; many at wholesale prices. Gantom will be releasing a brand new product at HAuNTcon this year!
Celebrate
HAuNTcon’s signature event is the annual Costume Ball. This Halloween-themed party on Friday night gives attendees who are normally working in October the perfect opportunity to jump into costume and makeup, and celebrate a rock’n good time with friends and family.
Haunt owners, actors, makeup artists, and Halloween fanatics from around the world will be in attendance for an evening of partying, networking, and ghoulish fun. Sponsored by Froggy’s Fog, this year’s Costume Ball spooktacular will ensure that frightfully decked-out guests celebrate the industry with the clever theme, Phantom of the Grand Ole Opry! Admission to the ball includes hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, party favors, prom photo, dancing, and a live DJ to keep the party jumping. The best part?! FREE beer sponsored by Froggys Fog! (Costumes are suggested but not required). Check out some of the amazing costumes from last year’s HAuNTcon Costume Ball!
