Fun Spot Names New Roller Coaster In Super Bowl Commercial | Mine Blower
In December, Florida amusement park Fun Spot, announced that they would be opening a new wooden roller coaster at their Kissimmee location in 2017. They released the specs and layout, but left out one major thing… the name of the coaster.
The name was leaked into the theme park world around February 2nd, but officially announced during a commercial late in the second quarter of Super Bowl 51.
Fun Spot’s 30-second commercial began with CEO John Arie Jr. talking about company’s 19-year history, then moving on talking about the future.
The commercial included a POV simulation of the ride’s maneuvers with John Arie Jr saying “We’re proud to announce the Mine Blower”.
The specs show that the new roller coaster will be 2,256 feet long, reach a speed of 48 mph, and reach a height of 82 feet. The design also calls for a 360-degree barrel roll that twists riders upside-down, a first for a wooden coaster in Florida. In the 30 second commercial, Arie continues to say that it’s “One-of-a-kind in America”. This new project is coasting Fun Spot upwards of $6 million dollars!
Recent artwork shows off rocket shaped dynamite labeled (“ACME”) on the lead car of the new roller coaster. There’s also a cartoon dog mascot named Nitro.

The company currently owns White Lightning, Florida’s only wooden roller coaster — located at it’s sister park in Orlando. This happens to be one of our favorite wooden coasters in the world! It’s so smooth and keeps the white knucklers happy. We can only hope the new Mine Blowed roller coaster will be half as fun!
The new Mine Blowed roller coaster is expected to open at the Kissimmee location in Summer 2017. For complete specs and info about Mine Blower, click here.
