Disneyland 60th Anniversary Celebration Revealed
Tonight Disneyland held a special after-hours press event to finally reveal plans for the long awaited 60th Anniversary celebration. The diamond-infused celebration will begin May 22, 2015 with no announced end date.
Disneyland will be adding an all new parade and new fireworks show, using modern technology to light up the nights for the 60th anniversary.
“Disneyland Forever” will be a high-tech fireworks show using new technology featuring immersive projections and more special effects everywhere on Main Street USA and throughout the park. Notable locations for the new projection mapping will include “It’s a Small World”, the “Matterhorn”, along the Rivers of America using Fantasmic fountains, and more. Included will be sequences from “The Jungle Book,” “Peter Pan,” and “Tangled,” among others. The show will feature two original songs, “Live the Magic” and “Kiss Goodnight,” written by Richard Sherman.
Disneyland demonstrated what the Main Street projections will look like during the announcement in a video;
The iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland and and Carthay Circle Theatre will glisten and gleam, each with its own diamond medallion featuring the letter “D.” The entire resort will sparkle with Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration décor and festive banners in shades of Disneyland blue.
Disney fans will notice that World of Color will change through May 22 for an all new show called World of Color – Celebrate! The show is expected to take the perspective of Mickey Mouse and tell the story of how Disneyland was created and evolved through the years using live action footage, fountains, and lasers, featuring new special effects with a never before heard song that will put goosebumps on the arms of all Disneyland fans. The new World of Color show will debut on May 22, 2015.
After much success in Hong Kong, Disneyland will be debuing the new Paint The Night parade. This new night time parade has floats and costumes that light up with more than 1.5 million LED lights featuring more the 80 performers.
This high energy version of Hong Kong’s Paint The Night will feature beloved characters and stories from “Monsters, Inc,” “Cars,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Toy Story,” “Frozen” and more.
This is all “just the beginning” of Disney’s plans to celebrate the 60th anniversary. there’s so much more to come that has yet to be announced. Instead of speculating, we will just wait until the next surprise surfaces to report.
