Cedar Point Installs Construction Fences, Hypes 150th Anniversary Celebration
Yesterday, Cedar Point unveiled one of the most anticipated coasters of all time to the media. However, there’s some interesting developments on the opposite side of the peninsula.
Construction fences now surround the site of the former Extreme Sports Stadium. The fence extends from the entrance of Windseeker past the northern spike of Wicked Twister. There is approximately 1.65 acres sectioned off. This can be seen on the Cedar Point Webcams stationed on the top of the Power Tower attraction.
It is likely that this land will be used for the 2019 expansion, which will be the start of Cedar Points’s two season long 150th anniversary celebration. The park has recently started promoting the upcoming celebration, as seen in a tweet from the park’s Director of Communication, Tony Clark.

It is interesting and worth noting that according to California’s Great America’s 20 year Masterplan, they are planning to get a new Wicked Twister clone in the upcoming years. Originally, it was said to be 205 feet in height, but now it is said to be 210 feet, the same height as Wicked Twister. So, instead of a building a clone, there’s a possibility Wicked Twisted could be transplanted from Cedar Point to California’s Great America. If that happens, this would free up even more space for Cedar Point to work with next to the beach. We will be keeping a close eye on the construction happening at Cedar Point over the next few months.
Cedar Point will open for the 2018 season on May 5th. VIP Packages are available now. For tickets and more information, visit the official Cedar Point website by clicking here.
