Cedar Point’s Iconic Sky Ride Receives Refresh for 2024 Season
Offering breathtaking views of the Main Midway since its debut in 1961, Cedar Point’s beloved Sky Ride continues to enchant guests with its tranquil transportation from the park’s entrance to its heart and back again.
Manufactured by Von Roll of Switzerland, this cable car-style attraction stands as one of the few remaining of its kind in the world, thanks to the diligent care of the park’s Maintenance Team, ensuring each new generation of riders can cherish the same experiences as their predecessors.
Over the years, the Sky Ride’s cabins have undergone numerous transformations, evolving in design with updated graphics, paint, and cabin numbering arrangements. In preparation for the summer of 2022, Cedar Point’s Sign Shop embarked on a project to refresh the cabins, drawing inspiration from past iterations. However, logistical challenges involving the transportation of nearly 40 cabins necessitated a temporary halt to the project.
Now, in 2024, visitors can expect a revitalized Sky Ride experience, with cabins sporting a contemporary design infused with nods to its storied history. Featuring a fresh coat of paint, updated Cedar Point logos, and a subtle homage to its manufacturer, Von Roll, the refurbished cabins promise a blend of modern aesthetics and nostalgic charm.
In the coming weeks, Cedar Point’s Ride Maintenance Team will start installation of the revamped cabins, followed by rigorous testing to ensure a seamless and safe experience for all riders.
As the park welcomes guests for another thrilling season, guests are encouraged to embark on a journey through history aboard the Sky Ride, savoring the timeless allure of this iconic attraction.
