Cedar Point Replacing Antique Cars Ride With New Signature Restaurant
Cedar Point is officially removing their Antique Cars attraction to make room for a new new chef-inspired signature restaurant in Frontier Town.
The family-friendly attraction, which debuted in 1969, featured small-scale Model T-type cars on a winding track through Frontier Town. The ride was popular among kids, as for many it was their first experience to drive a vehicle.
While the park isn’t releasing many details on the new culinary location in Frontier Town, Cedar Point’s Director of Communications Tony Clark says the “entire team is working on menu, theming, name and more,” all of which will be revealed in the coming months. The new restaurant is scheduled to debut in 2022, and the site is already being prepped for vertical construction.
“The culinary experience at Cedar Point continues to get better each season, and this is another huge step in providing quality dining experiences for all tastes and preferences,” Clark said.
Cedar Point is planning to keep the classic covered bridge the Antique Cars passed through and incorporating it into the new project. When completed, guests will have the opportunity to actually walk over the bridge instead of driving through it.
This was not the only car inspired ride at Cedar Point. The Cadillac Cars, a nearly identical ride will still operate at the front of the park between Raptor and the Marina Entrance.
This news comes just months after the park announced they would be removing the Wicked Twister roller coaster.
More details to come as the off-season progresses at Cedar Point. The new Chef-Inspired Signature restaurant is scheduled to open in 2022.
