Cedar Point Reschedules 2016 Announcement

Cedar Point is now ready to make their big announcement on what’s coming to the Sandusky, Ohio park in 2016. The announcement will take place on Wednesday, September 9th at 9 AM EST at the Jack Aldrich Theatre at the park. As we wrote to you earlier this month, the initial announcement that was scheduled for Tuesday, August 18 was postponed due to the fatal accident that occurred on August 13th. Since the announcement was postponed, the speculation has still run rampant on what the 2016 attraction will be. We’ve speculated and discussed a new dark ride since Cedar Fair CEO Matt Ouimet has revealed his desire for all Cedar Fair parks to eventually get one. Then we’ve come across the rumors of a dive coaster that could be named Valravn or that it could possibly be a wooden coaster.

Nonetheless, thrill freaks have been sitting on edge waiting for the announcement after the last two weeks saw reveals from around the Cedar Fair family with Kings Island, Kings Dominion and Canada’s Wonderland and Carowinds. Note from the above graphic that Cedar Point Communications dude Tony Clark tweeted out on August 27th that the location of the announcement for fans to watch will be on Cedar Point’s website. Also, the park will be closed to the general public on September 9th and the event appears to be by invitation only. However, since so many other Cedar Fair parks got their announcements out the hatch this month, this will allow for Cedar Point to be the main attraction for headlines when they unveil their new toy.

Cedar Point 2016 Announcement

There has been excitement built up in the park with the coaster timeline that’s been assembled this summer for coaster crazies to keep track of and watch progress. It has since been moved near the Cedar Point Marina entrance from it’s original location where the Good Times Theatre was located. On social media, Cedar Point has been posting their roller coaster countdown. They started with Blue Streak on August 25th and will apparently go through all 16 roller coasters that are currently operating at the park until their big announcement on September 9th.

The coaster countdown seems like the right marketing move for The Point since there have been so many rumors and accounts of what’s coming posted on social media recently. Some of the latest and most significant are photos that surfaced of track being delivered to the park in the last two weeks. While the track was steel, we still are left speculating if it’s a wooden coaster with steel parts as a hybrid or is it indeed a dive coaster. As always, keep your eyes, browsers and social medias tuned to Coaster Nation for updates and the big announcement from Cedar Point!

Cedar Point Valravn Website Hint

When Cedar Point announced the Roller Coaster Appreciation Day today on their website, which is set for Friday, September 11th, they included pictures of various coasters in their collection like Top Thrill Dragster and Iron Dragon. When you look closer, they also snuck in a picture in the lower right of what appears to be a crown with 5 points; or a bird with four eyes, whichever way you look at it. That rendering is in the foreground of the background of the #CP2016 announcement graphic that Cedar Point has released in the last month. We’re mere days away from the big announcement!!
