Kennywood located in Pittsburgh PA, is getting ready to open for their 118th season! Yes you read that correct 118th SEASON! Get ready for wild rides, Potato Patch fries, work picnics, and school trips! There’s so many new things at Kennywood this year we don’t even know where to begin! Let’s start with the new fanatics club…

The Pittsburgh area landmark looks forward to welcoming back all the Kennywood FANATICS who can’t wait for Opening Day and creating more lifelong lovers of all that “America’s Finest Traditional Amusement Park” has to offer. After more than a century of making people smile, it’s no wonder some people are pretty fanatical about Kennywood park. Kennywood calls ‘em fanatics because they have excessive enthusiasm. They’re loyal, even devoted to sharing their enthusiasm about old rides or new ones, favorite foods, special events, and Season Pass benefits with friends and family. One of the world’s rarest and most revered attractions will sport a new look in 2015! Noah’s Ark, winner of Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket award for Best Funhouse/Walk-Through Attraction five years running, is undergoing renovations and will hold some new scenes to entertain guests brave enough to set foot inside. We have however heard rumors of the famous whale mouth making a return, but until it is announced by the park, it’s just a rumor…

The park is hosting it’s inaugural Roller Coaster Race on June 6! More than 700 people have already signed up for a 5K or 10K run, OR the ‘coaster race‘ to travel five kilometers via Kennywood’s legendary roller coasters. Guests will get a race wristband and each time they ride a coaster the wristband will be stamped. The event has various prizes, check the official website here for more details.

Register for the Roller Coaster Race at www.rollercoasterrace.com/pittsburgh, Registration for 10K & 5K is limited to a total of 1,500 runners. The Roller Coaster Race event is limited to 500 participants so if you plan to attend, you better act fast cause tickets are already selling out!

Kennywood will also host several new events plus annual favorites such as Community Days, Celebrate America, and the 66th annual Fall Fantasy Parades. For car enthusiasts, high powered cars of all makes and models will be displayed throughout the park for “Motorsports Sunday” on May 17th.

Also new this year is Kidsfest! Kennywood pays tribute to the little ones with special games, activities and contests for youngsters duringthe parks inaugural Kidsfest event! On June 23 & 24, kids can meet their favorite superheroes and princesses, and June 25, kids can meet the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and student-athletes from the University of Pittsburgh! Plus there will be other fun educational, cultural and entertainment activities and all that Kennywood’s Kiddieland has to offer.

Johnny Rockets returns for it’s first full season. Serving signature milkshakes, fresh hamburgers, and a variety of other delicious options, Johnny Rockets provides a full-service dining option in the historic Carousel building.

Kennywood kicks off the 2015 summer season on Saturday, May 2, and begins daily operations Friday, May 15.

Season Pass Holders are invited to the year’s first event for Kennywood FANATICS! Come to Kennywood the weekend before opening (April 25 or 26 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) to get your Season Pass activated for the 2015 season, purchase some refreshments, live DJ and connect with fellow FANATICS as we all get pumped up for Opening Day! This is an event for Season Pass Holders ONLY. The park will not be open and no rides will be operating for this special event.
