Kings Island’s Halloween Haunt Adds New Scares And Additional Ticket for Mazes

Halloween Haunt returns to Kings Island this fall with a mix of fearsome favorites, new nightmares, and a major change to how guests access the park’s haunted attractions. The Mason, Ohio park, now part of the Six Flags family following the Cedar Fair merger, is raising the stakes with an all-new premium haunted experience and new ticketing requirements for its haunted houses, often referred to by fans as mazes.

The headline addition is “The Conjuring: Beyond Fear”, an immersive, 20-minute “SCREAMium” walkthrough based on the hit horror film franchise.

Guests step into the role of paranormal investigators working alongside Ed and Lorraine Warren to secure cursed artifacts before supernatural forces take control. Using film-inspired sets, advanced special effects, and interactive challenges, the attraction puts guests face-to-face with infamous entities including The Nun, The Crooked Man, The Ferryman, and Annabelle herself. Tickets for this upcharge experience are dynamic starting at $15 and climb to $25 depending on dates.

For the first time, entry to the parks’ haunted mazes is no longer included with regular park admission. After purchasing park admission (or using a season pass) guests will then have several options to visit the haunted mazes aka haunted house or haunted attractions. Pricing is dynamic and varies depending on dates.

  • Haunted Attractions Pass – $10 to $30 for unlimited maze access in a single night. Does not include park admission or access to The Conjuring: Beyond Fear.
  • Haunted Attractions Express Pass – $29 to $59 for priority access to haunted mazes plus a single entry to The Conjuring: Beyond Fear on the date selected. Does not include park admission.
  • All Season Haunted Attractions Pass – Available for passholders, granting maze access all season long.
  • Single-Entry Admission to The Conjuring: Beyond Fear – $15 to $25 for one visit to the new interactive attraction.

This year’s maze lineup features Order of the Dragon, a new attraction where guests venture into the Vampire King’s catacombs; Slaughter House, a meatpacking plant of horrors; Hotel St. Michelle, a haunted inn hiding sinister secrets; Alien Abyss, where creatures lurk in the shadows; KillMart, a deserted store overrun by terror; and Cornered, a remote farm turned deadly.

Scare zones — Pumpkin Eater, Abandoned, Hooked, International Street Fear, and Coney Maul — along with live shows such as Dr. Nightmare’s Game Show and Nytewalkers are included with general park admission.

Most of Kings Island’s signature rides, including Mystic Timbers, The Beast, Banshee, The Racer, and Diamondback, will operate during Halloween Haunt hours. The park notes that while scare zones, live entertainment, and most rides are included with park admission, haunted mazes, food, drinks, and merchandise require separate purchases.

Families looking for something less frightening can enjoy Tricks and Treats, which runs Saturdays and Sundays from September 21 through November 2. The daytime event features a Trick-or-Treat Trail, mask-making, costume contests, and other kid-friendly activities.

One bittersweet note for longtime visitors: Boo Blasters on Boo Hill will close permanently after September 1 to make way for future development.

Halloween Haunt at Kings Island runs select nights from September 19 through November 2 and is not recommended for guests under 13.

If you can’t make it to King’s Island to experience The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, the premium attraction will also be operating at Carowinds in North Carolina during Scarowinds, Cedar Point in Ohio during HalloWeekends, and Canada’s Wonderland in Ontario during Halloween Haunt.
