Ghosts, Gardens, and Gifts: Disneyland’s 2024 Haunted Mansion Transformation
The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Resort in California, is set to undergo a spirited transformation in 2024. This expansion will dive deeper into the Haunted Mansion’s rich history and ghostly tales. It will introduce an extended outdoor queue that will fully immerse guests in an enriched thematic experience, along with the addition of a new retail store near the attraction’s exit.
Local legends trace the origins of the Haunted Mansion to a wealthy sea captain, and the mansion’s dedicated staff continues to uphold its eerie charm. The expanded queue will weave these intriguing stories into its design, featuring new gardens inspired by the likes of Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and the enigmatic one-eyed cat.
Every garden will showcase distinct features, such as a water fountain, gazebo, themed sculptures, and carefully crafted landscaping. Notably, visitors will have the opportunity to observe a fresh addition: a greenhouse used by the Haunted Mansion’s diligent gardeners for nurturing their plants. The pet cemetery and the horse-drawn funeral hearse will remain prominent fixtures within the attraction’s estate.
Now, turning the attention to Madame Leota, it’s the perfect time to extend her influence outside the confines of the Haunted Mansion through a brand-new retail store. Housed within Leota’s former carriage house, this standalone shop is something guests have been eagerly anticipating for a long time. More details about this shop will be revealed soon.
Improvements are also on the horizon for the plaza next to Tiana’s Palace, a cherished space rich in memories and history. A fresh, refined park-like environment will emerge, offering a serene setting to unwind, bask in the atmosphere, and savor live entertainment beneath the shade of both new and age-old trees.
Construction for these enhancements is scheduled to commence in January 2024. Disney is committed to enhancing accessibility in these areas, including the installation of a new elevator exit from the Haunted Mansion for guests with disabilities.
