New Policy For Teens Under The Age of 16 At Elitch Gardens

Elitch Gardens is now requiring teenagers under the age of 16 to be accompanied by an adult — a rule change stemming from unsupervised teenagers at the park.

“Elitch Gardens will continue to provide quality, safe family fun for Denver families as we have for the last 130 years,” said Elitch Gardens Marketing Manager Jolie DeBois. “We will continue to improve our policies and procedures as needed. Guests that the policy modification absolutely does not work for, we will work with them directly to resolve their concerns.”

Previously, children 12 years old and younger had to be chaperoned by an adult. Now, the new policy requires all park-goers under the age of 16 to have adult chaperones for entry. Guests who are ages 16-17 will need adult chaperones after 3pm. Adult chaperones are defined as a parent, legal guardian or other supervising adult at least 21 years old. The new policy takes effect Saturday, July 10, 2021.

Park officials say violators may be ejected (without refund) or detained at the park’s discretion.

Kennywood, in Pennsylvania, also added chaperones to their policy for teens in 2021.
