What’s New At Cedar Point For 2017
By now you’ve heard about Cedar Point Shores opening this season at Cedar Point, but now that the park opened yesterday, we’re bringing you the other changes you’ll spot around the park when you visit.
First, the update you’re probably most looking forward to: Mean Streak. You’re now able to walk back toward the ride formerly known as Mean Streak up until the railroad crossing. It looks like a lot of changes are being made to the structure of the ride and a lot of track has already been put on the frame. There’s more track laying around the area as well and in case you’re still unsure that it’s RMC, an RMC label was spotted on one of the crates. Check out this video update of the area.! It looks like it’s going to be a wild ride!
You may have noticed other Cedar Fair parks upping their food game and Cedar Point is not to be left behind. New additions have been made in several food stands as well as complete changes in food locations. First, what used to be Grist Mill has been converted to a Famous Dave’s quick-serve location (you’ll recognize Famous Dave’s from it’s marina location).
New additions have been to the menu of Stockade Refreshments including the Macho Nachos from Los Gatos. In addition, a new cue line has been added to help organize lines and keep them from clogging up the midway. Los Gatos located in Frontier town has been changed to Wagon Wheel Pizza and will now serve up handmade pizzas.
The Melt Bar and Grilled Location is taking shape in preparation for its opening in a few weeks.
In Frontier Town, the barnyard area has been expanded and pony rides are back. They’re not open yet, but a sign says they should be opening soon! In addition, the final touches are being put on Professor Delbert’s Frontier Fling.
The Battle for Cedar Point returns this year with new trivia questions and new merchandise. Now in addition to the Battle for Cedar Point shirt and the coaster clan pins, you can support your favorite coaster clans. A variety of items (T-shirts, mugs, travel mugs, magnets, etc.) feature the different clan images.
If you loved the vintage line of merchandise that debuted last year, you’re in for a treat as the line has been expanded. You can still find some of your favorites from last year like Jumbo Jet and Rotor, but new this year are Wildcat, Avalanche Run, and White Water Landing.
There’s also some new merchandise that’s not a part of these lines that we love as well!
Cedar Point also paid up on their bet with Six Flags Great America with Top Thrill Cubster. The park went all out complete with signage, new logos on the trains, and limited edition T-shirts and baseball hats. Fans went crazy and the shirts and hats quite literally flew off the shelves with people lining up in the shops to get their Top Thrill Cubster gear. We also spotted lots of Cubs fans decked out in their gear enjoying the theme change.
