What’s New at Cedar Point? Catch Up On Everything Coming Up In The Park!
Haven’t had a chance to check out Cedar Point this 2016 season? With Light Up The Point just around the corner, now is the time to start planning your visit!
Each night from July 1 to July 4, fireworks will light up the Cedar Point Beach beginning at 10:30. Guests can watch from the beach or upgrade to special VIP seating. A special celebration on July 4 includes 3D fireworks and the option to enjoy the All-American Grillout at the Lakeside Pavilion.
While you’re at the park, be sure to check out all the new things around the park including Cedar Point’s eighteenth coaster, Valravn! Dare 2 Dive on the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster. Experience the thrill of dangling precariously over the first drop while you enjoy a gorgeous view of the Cedar Point peninsula and Lake Erie.
Along with riding, you can join the Battle for Cedar Point by downloading the new app! Join your favorite coaster’s clan and score points for your team by riding coasters and answering trivia. The points you earn will add up to pins that you can purchase in certain gift shops. Scan signs around the park to view an augmented reality that you can save and share. The winning clan will be announced each night at Luminosity! Will your clan emerge victorious?
Also new in 2016: you can now capture your on-ride experience and take them home with you using FunPix. Guests can now purchase a day or season pass. With your FunPix account, you can be professionally photographed throughout the park at Photo Spot locations, with your favorite characters, and even on your favorite rides!
For park-goers looking for some more exclusive thrills, Cedar Point has started the Ride Warriors Club as well as VIP Sunrise Thrills Tours. Ride Warrior Club Members are invited to exclusive events throughout the year. With your membership you can get exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of your favorite coasters, exclusive ride time, and even exclusive on-ride videos. Check out our on ride video on Valravn!
Guests looking for a more in-depth look at all their favorite coasters can take part in the new Sunrise Thrills Tours. The tour begins at 6:30 AM and guests will get behind-the-scenes looks at Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, and Valravn- including a ride in the lift elevator to watch the sun rise from the top of the 223 lift hill!
This season, guests might notice a few rides and attractions that didn’t make it into the 2016 season. Over in the challenge park, the Go Karts and Skyscraper have been removed. Over on Frontier Trail, the water ride, Shoot the Rapids was removed earlier this spring. Some RMC steaks and orange markings have been spotted on the supports for Mean Streak leading guests to begin speculating for the 2017 season and beyond.
Even though the steak clearly says RMC, don’t count on that being a sure thing. The park has been known to play mind games with coaster nerds from time to time.
In 2009, Cedar Point sent out promotional bottles that had a Whyte Lightning logo on it. After months of mind games, fans found out that Whyte Lightning was indeed not the parks new ride. It turned out to be Shoot the Rapids, which is now the name of two popular rides that are removed.
With the 150th anniversary coming up in the next few years, we have a lot to look forward to in the coming seasons. What do you think is coming up in Cedar Point’s future? Check out what Cedar Point’s Communications Director, Tony Clark has to say about all the new things for 2016 and their plans for the future in our Valravn media day interview!
