Vic Kleman; Kennywood’s Biggest Fanatic Passes Away At 83
With a very heavy heart, we are reporting that longtime Kennywood fanatic and ACE roller coaster club member Vic Kleman passed away this morning, at the age of 83.
Local Pittsburgh’ers (aka Yinzers) and fans of Kennywood Park might recognize Vic from his famed marathon rides on the Jack Rabbit.
He recently drew worldwide media attention when he did 95 consecutive rides on The Jack Rabbit just 13 months ago for the rides 95th birthday. Vic tallied more than 5,000 rides total on Jack Rabbit. Many may also remember Vic when he worked part-time for Kennywood during the park’s Phantom Fright Nights as the greeter at the Kennyville Cemetery. The park honored him less than a year ago during KennyKon XXVI.
ACE reported that Vic had been battling bladder cancer and congestive heart failure, and had a few hospital stays this year. He was born on August 28, 1932 and is survived by his partner of 32 years, Jim, who is age 96 and has Alzheimer’s disease and as of recently resides in a nursing home.
Ironically, park goes reported a rainbow over Kennywood today, just hours after his passing!
