Universal Debuts Immersive VR Haunted House At Halloween Horror Nights

Halloween is right around the corner and Universal Studios just released a bomb shell announcement for a new VR Haunted House at Halloween Horror Nights 26! Running September 16th-October 31^st 2016 on select nights, the streets of Universal Orlando will come alive with creatures conjured up by nightmares!

With virtual reality experiencing something of a second coming thanks to relatively cheap headsets such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, or even Google Cardboard, it should come as no surprise that a big entertainment company like Universal Studios has jumped on the bandwagon.

The twisted minds behind Universal Orlando’s award-winning Halloween Horror Nights have combined forces with Universal Creative to produce a next-level, immersive theater experience that seamlessly bridges live action and virtual reality (VR). This new attraction is a cutting edge, terrifying, interactive experience that blends custom virtual reality technology with real-life characters and environments to create a whole new type of terror!

The attraction is called “The Repository” and throughout this heart-pounding, psychological journey, guests’ most personal and intimate fears will be tested as they encounter real-life characters in highly themed physical environments, while working together in teams of four to uncover a paranormal mystery. The experience involves a first of its kind VR platform that was designed by VRstudios, a Bellevue, Washington company specializing in unique VR experiences.

The immersive experience takes place in a centuries old warehouse where paranormal and supernatural artifacts have been collected and stored for hundreds of years. Recently though, the secretive organization behind this practice has installed state-of-the-art technology that allows spectral transportation into paranormal realms. Get ready for The Repository, because the door will soon be open to a mind-blowing paranormal experience like no other.

The Repository can be purchased as an upgrade onto the regular Halloween Horror Nights admission for an additional $49.99 plus tax. It will be available to guests during all Halloween Horror Nights events, beginning Sept. 29 and running through Oct. 31. Plenty of other original attractions will also be available starting September 16th.

Universal Orlando Annual Passholders can purchase tickets beginning August 16. Tickets for the general public will be on sale beginning August 23. Halloween Horror Nights admission is required.
