It’s New Years Eve and just like you may be doing right now, we’re reflecting on the past year. We’re grateful for another great year here at Coaster Nation and we’d like to thank you all for joining us on our website and our social media outlets. To celebrate the beginning of 2018, we’re looking back at our 10 most popular articles of 2017.
Back in September, Hurricane Irma blew through Orlando. In the process it destroyed part of the roof on the Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater.
In April, the Fast and Furious franchise released the eighth installment of the films, “The Fast of the Furious”. In honor of the release, Universal Studios Orlando had the cars on display at the park!
Many of us lost a favorite coaster this summer when Universal Studios Orlando announced that they would be closing Dragon Challenge forever. Replacing it is a new Harry Potter themed coaster opening in 2019.
After much anticipation and speculation, Cedar Point finally announced in August the opening of Steel Vengeance for 2018.
You voted and the results are in! Nashville Nightmare took home the title of Coaster Nation’s Top Haunts 2017.
Just before Cedar Point closed for the 2018 season we learned that Sandcastle Suites hotel would be demolished to make way for changes. In addition, the Extreme Sports Stadium was demolished and construction began on the new boardwalk.
After Busch Gardens Williamsburg conducted the infamous “balloon test”, rumors started flying about a possible giga coaster coming to the park.
Amidst all the Mean Streak Speculation, June brought us this video as construction on the new coaster progressed.
February brought Cedar Point’s annual Winter Chill Out event and a sneak peak at changes happening over the winter including Cedar Point Shores and Melt Bar and Grilled.
And coming in at NUNBER ONE….
While we waited for more information about Mean Streak, Cedar Point released three teaser videos to keep us guessing. All three came in the top ten so we’re including them all here. The second trailer was released after Coastermania and the third came just over a month later in July.
Well, there you have it! 2017 in theme park news. We know 2018 is going to bring some great new rides and coasters and we’ll be there to bring you the latest news and information. As for our new year’s resolution, we hope to bring you even better content in the new year!
