The Beach Waterpark at Adventure Landing is Listed For Sale
A few weeks ago, Cincinnati residents were shocked when the beloved Coney Island Amusement Park shut down the ride portion of the park. It seems that another Cincinnati park has closed for good, as the land that houses “The Beach at Adventure Landing” is listed for sale.
This listing was posted on Anchor Associates was for the 34 acres the park sits on. The nature of the listing indicates that it is the land being sold. Even though the sale listing includes information and diagrams for the waterpark, the emphasis on traffic and nearby residential communities implies that this plot may be used for commercial development.
The Beach at Adventure Landing originally opened in 1985 as one of the first major waterparks in the Greater Cincinnati region. The park was vastly expanded in the 1990’s to compete with Kings Island’s Waterworks one exit down the interstate. The park closed in 2012, and was eventually sold to Adventure Holdings LLC for $3 million dollars. The park re-opened in 2013 with a plethora of upgrades (seen here), and operated through the 2019 season.
It has become apparent that not only is the water park being sold, but also the land around it. According to this listing from Henkle Schueler, a 43 acre plot of land beside the parking lot is up for sale. It is fascinating to note that the listed permit uses: retail, service, restaurant, and lodging. Furthermore, the site is described as extensive commercial and industrial developments.
All but one reference to the park were removed from Adventure Holdings LLC’s website. Although it does not appear there are any pending sales of the park itself or land around it, it’s unknown if anyone is interested in the property. If no one purchases the waterpark, The Beach will be sadly missed… Stay tuned as this is a still-developing story.
Here’s some additional photos of The Beach Waterpark. Interestingly, our photographer and graphic designer, Alyssa Schipani (DesignByAly.com) shot the marketing images for The Beach, so you will see many of our photos on the official website.
UPDATE 11/13/19: While taking a glace at the waterpark’s website, we noticed that the 2020 Season Passes weren’t for sale or even listed. When checking the other Adventure Holdings LLC locations, they have their 2020 passes and deals up for guests to purchase. The fact that The Beach doesn’t have their passes listed with the chain speaks volumes, as in past years all the passes for the respective parks were released simultaneously.
