Star Wars Rise of The Resistance Opening Dates Revealed for Walt Disney World And Disneyland
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Galaxy’s Edge now has an opening date for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. If you’ve been waiting until Star Wars land opened at Walt Disney World to make a visit — it’s going to be the first, and only, place for guests to experience the new Rise of the Resistance ride this year.
Disney has just officially announced that the second ride — after Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run — to be included as part of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Rise of the Resistance, will open at Disney World in Orlando, Florida on December 5, 2019. Many Disney fans will recognize this date as Walt Disney’s birthday. What better way to honor the ultimate storyteller than by introducing the most immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined in a Disney Park!
As soon as work is completed at Walt Disney World, Imagineers will head back to California to complete their mission at Disneyland Resort where Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open on Friday, January 17, 2020.
When it opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega all reprised their roles for new footage included as part of the ride, which sees riders fly from the surface of Galaxy’s Edge’s setting on Batuu, only to be captured aboard a Star Destroyer and have to make their escape through the legs of First Order AT-AT walkers.

Walt Disney World Orlando Galaxy’s Edge land is due to open to the public on August 29 and, while it won’t have the Rise of Resistance ride until December 5, it will have the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride ready for guests. Other experiences like Savi’s Workshop, where fans can make their own lighstabers, the Droid Depot, where guests can create their own droids, and Oga’s Cantina will also be open.
