Six Flags Great America Opens Giga Discovery Ride by Zamperla
Six Flags Great America, located near Chicago, has unveiled its newest attraction: Sky Striker — a Discovery Giga 40, created by world renowned ride manufacturer, Zamperla.

This exhilarating ride promises to deliver an unparalleled thrill, launching riders skyward and offering a dynamic and heart-pounding experience.

Sky Striker’s pendulum swings rapidly, creating a sense of vertigo while reaching incredible heights, inducing a unique freefall sensation. The simultaneous spinning adds to the adrenaline rush, with riders experiencing stomach-dropping moments and a feeling of suspension in the air. Each ride offers a completely different experience depending on the rider’s position in the counterclockwise rotation.

“We are thrilled to introduce Sky Striker to our world-class lineup of attractions here at Six Flags Great America,” said Park President John Krajnak. “Our ongoing relationship with Zamperla has been instrumental in bringing innovative and exhilarating attractions to our guests. The addition of Sky Striker exemplifies the quality and excitement that Zamperla attractions are known for and reinforces our commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences.”
Standing at a record-breaking 172 feet tall, Sky Striker propels 40 riders at speeds of up to 75mph. The ride features an octagonal rotating center with eight arms, each hosting a group of five seats, resulting in a total capacity of 40 riders. Each passenger is secured by an over-the-shoulder restraint, ensuring safety while providing an intense thrill.

First debuting in 2018 at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, the Discovery Giga 40 has redefined the thrill experience. “This is a further demonstration of the long-standing collaboration between the Six Flags group and Zamperla,” said Ramon Rosario, Zamperla’s Director of Sales. “This is an exceptional and spectacular ride, capable of attracting the attention of park visitors from afar.
