Six Flags Great America and Cedar Point Issue Bet On The World Series
As if the stakes weren’t high enough, two of the nation’s largest amusement parks are getting in on the MLB World Series competition between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians.
With all of the hype going around about the World Series, Illinois’ Six Flags Great America and Ohio’s Cedar Point are rooting for their teams- and they’re even betting to see which one will take home the championship!
Six Flags posted a video on social media yesterday boasting that their own Chicago Cubs would be the ones to take home the championship and issued a bet to Cedar Point: if the Cubs win, Cedar Point must post a video of their staff performing “Go, Cubs, Go” to their social channels. Check out the video below. In turn, if the Indians win, Great America will post a video of their team performing “Cleveland Rocks”
Cedar Point isn’t afraid of a little challenge though! CP’s GM Jason McClure responded with a video of Jason McClure accepting the challenege and making the stakes even higher: the losing park must rename a ride of the winning team’s choice for opening weekend in 2017 and the winning team gets to choose the name! Just a few months ago, guests were able to get their picture taken with the NBA championship trophy at Cedar Point. Will we be seeing a Indians celebration at the park sometime in 2017?
“We are thrilled to be a part of this wager,” said Hank Salemi, park president of Six Flags Great America. “Our park is rallying around Chicago for a World Series win and can’t wait to hear ‘Go, Cubs, Go’ all the way from Sandusky.” Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point added, “I think all of us in Ohio and Illinois are excited that our teams are playing October baseball. Our two parks are in the business of fun – so why not get into the spirit in our own unique way? We’re not going to lose, so they should probably get their video ready!”
So which team (and park!) will take home the victory? What ride will be boasting a new name for opening weekend 2017? We’ll just have to wait and see!
