Six Flags Great Adventure Reveals What’s New for the 2026 Season
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, will publicly open for the 2026 season on March 28, and the park is already teasing a major transformation coming later this year.
The park announced plans to reimagine the Boardwalk, bringing a refreshed take on the classic shorefront atmosphere with new ride experiences, updated dining options and additional enhancements.
The transformation is part of a multi-year investment plan for the park that also includes construction currently underway for a brand new roller coaster planned for 2027.
Season Passholder Preview Night
Before the official opening day, Six Flags Great Adventure will host a new Season Passholder Preview Night on Friday, March 27 from 5pm. to 9pm.
The complimentary event will give 2026 Season Passholders and Members the chance to get an early look at the park before the general public returns. Guests will enjoy early access to select rides and attractions, the first coaster rides of the 2026 season, and a sneak peek at new seasonal offerings and park enhancements.
Opening Day Brings Safari Spring Break Celebration
Opening Day on March 28 will also mark the debut of the park’s NEW Safari Spring Break Celebration, running March 28 through April 12.
The event introduces wildlife themed entertainment inside the amusement park, creating new opportunities for guests to connect with animals during their visit.
Spring Break Celebration guests can expect:
- Up-close animal encounters
- Family friendly entertainment and shows
- Themed activities and immersive photo opportunities
The celebration also coincides with the return of Safari Off-Road Adventure access from inside the amusement park. The experience features more than 1,200 animals from six continents including elephants, rhinos, tigers, giraffes and lions. The safari is included with theme park admission for guests, Passholders and Members.
Parkwide Enhancements for 2026
Guests returning this season will also notice several updates designed to improve the overall park experience.
El Toro has received newly installed track sections aimed at delivering a smoother ride experience. The work is part of a multi-year retracking project aimed at improving the ride experience. For the 2025 season, the park rebuilt 20 sections of track. In 2026, 82 brand new track rails from Intamin will be installed on the coaster. Additional retracking phases from Intamin are planned for 2027, with the possibility of further track work in the years that follow if needed.
The park is also introducing improved Wi-Fi for more reliable connectivity throughout the property, along with refreshed dining locations that will feature updated menus and added convenience.
If food is part of your park tradition, you’re going to like what’s ahead.
- Best of the West is becoming Best of the West: Smokehouse, bringing bold, house‑smoked barbecue flavors and hearty classics to your plate.
- Main Street Pub is being refreshed with a classic pub vibe and an energetic walk-up format that makes it easy to grab elevated comfort food without slowing down your day.
Executive Chef Jeremy Hacker is leading the evolution, focusing on scratch-made ingredients, creative menus, and faster service — so guests can spend less time waiting and more time riding.
A brand-new Main Street Main Stage behind the iconic fountain will serve as a central gathering space for performances, seasonal events, and special programming.
These upgrades continue Great Adventure’s ongoing focus on enhancing ride quality, guest comfort and in-park amenities.
Wild Safari Experiences Return
Wild Safari experiences will also return for the season beginning April 3.
At Wild Safari Base Camp, located at the main safari entrance, guests will be able to enjoy animal encounters, educational presentations and a standalone safari experience that can be enjoyed independently from the amusement park. More on the base camp here.
