SeaWorld Replacing Blue Horizons with New Dolphin Days Show
After 11 years, SeaWorld Orlando is replacing their Blue Horizon’s dolphin show. Beginning April 1, SeaWorld will debut a new show at Dolphin Theater called ‘Dolphin Days’.
SeaWorld is switching gears to remake its theme parks with an emphasis on conservation and animal rescues. In the new Dolphin Days presentation, the audience will learn more about the personalities of the Atlantic bottlenose dolphins; it will become a show focused much more on education of the dolphins’ lives rather than theatrical and entertainment. But it won’t be just dolphins, the new show will also include macaws and other tropical birds.
During the new show, one lucky young volunteer will be selected to be given an up close opportunity with one of the dolphins and a green winged macaw.
Dolphin Days will contain more information about how to care for animals in the wild and have a more educational message. SeaWorld is leaning more towards educational shows rather than theatrical; the largest example is the newest orca experience coming to San Diego this summer, with San Antonio and Orlando to follow starting next year. San Diego started their Dolphin Days show in summer 2015, and San Antonio just debuted their new show called Ocean Discoveries: Dolphins and Beluga Whales.
Before we move on, lets take a look at Blue Horizons:
Dolphin Days won’t be SeaWorld Orlando’s only new attraction this year. Dolphin Nursery will offer new ways to get up close to newborn dolphins. The Kraken roller coast will start offering a virtual reality experience starting in the summer, along with the new nighttime show Electric Ocean at Bayside Stadium.
