Adrenaline Peak Roller Coaster Debuts at Historic Oaks Park
Just in time for spring break, Oaks Park, a historic classic amusement park located in Portland Oregon, has opened the largest roller coaster in Oaks Park history!
Oaks held a contest from August 16 – December 17, 2017 to find the perfect name for the new coaster. After more than 5,000 entries, “Adrenaline Peak” was selected. Adrenaline Peak is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter 320, the 9th roller coaster in parks history. The ride takes thrill seekers to a height of 72 feet, before plunging to the ground in a beyond vertical first drop. The ride concludes with three inversions consisting of a loop, cutback, and a barrel roll.
The ride breaks several records including:
- Most Inversions on a Coaster in the Pacific Northwest
- Tallest Steel Coaster in the Pacific Northwest
- First Coaster in the Pacific Northwest with a beyond vertical drop
Oaks management feels this new addition will boost attendance and the overall thrill factor. Interim park CEO George Kolibaba , in a released statement, thanked those who helped bring the ride to reality:
“I am pleased to announce a very successful implementation of the new roller coaster. This is a major step for our park and the success was due to many people’s hard work and commitment. We met our opening date, even with marginal weather, it was a true success. The site preparation was key and under the direction of Martin Daexle of Gerstlauer, WBF the setup company, and the local iron workers, [our team achieved] a new record for setup time. The Gerstlauer team of Martin and Tobias made us a winner. Thank you [also] to Ride Entertainment, Adam was always there to help us. We are looking forward to a great season.”
Likewise, executives from both Gerstlauer and Ride Entertainment were praising the project’s end result. Siegfried Gerstlauer, Managing Director of Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, reiterated the project’s importance in maintaining Gerstlauer’s roots:
“This Euro-Fighter was a fantastic project and in many ways took us back to our roots. Our company began making unique, marketable roller coasters for small parks and Adrenaline Peak certainly fits that bill.”
Ride Entertainment Chief Business Development Officer Adam Sandy talked about the importance of new additions at classic amusement parks:
“When a park like Oaks gets a new coaster it really is a reason to celebrate. With its traditional rides and unique roller skating rink Oaks is iconic and what we think of as a classic American amusement park. Adrenaline Peak provides a new anchor for the property and a marketable asset that will be a draw for decades.”
