Meet The Single Track Coaster Concept!
Recently, the good folks over at Coaster Force took a tour of the Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) facility to see their operations and to get some sneak peeks of what new things the company expects to be churning out to it’s clients. With RMC President Fred Grubbs as their guide, Coaster Force got to see a piece of track for the single track coaster concept. The industry has given us innovations that have pushed the boundaries of what we can expect from a coaster manufacturer and this could be the next big thing.
Some of the coasters Rocky Mountain has done include Goliath at Six Flags Great America, Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City and Twisted Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Let’s have a look at what Coaster Force found during their big visit to the RMC facility!
Fred calls this a “single rail coaster track” of the all steel concept, which is a mock up and they have some of their clients that are looking at the concept for their park. The noted benefits that are expected include less bolting and less connections. Fred says the concept came from discussions with other personnel at RMC in informal conversations. With the design, they wanted to show that they could have the steel form in big sheets as showcased on the single track piece.

While there haven’t been any parks named as the soon to be owners of this cutting edge concept, it certainly makes for great speculation of what parks could get the coaster first. RMC has worked with Six Flags for a lot of their parks and this could be coming down the pike for one of them that is expecting a new coaster. Could this start a relationship with Cedar Fair? With certain parks like Michigan’s Adventure that could benefit from expansive coverage of a never-before-seen attraction, this could fit that bill. There’s also parks outside of the bigger companies like Silver Dollar City and Luna Park, Coney Island who could add this to their collection over the next few years.
What do YOU think about this coaster concept? Would you want your home them park to be the first to have such a concept? This is certain to be unveiled as a project that’s coming to change to industry and could give way to new innovations.
