Is This What Dorney Park Was Teasing on National Rollercoaster Day?
The Dorney Park celebration of 2018’s National Roller Coaster Day was pretty remarkable. The now “lost” video that was posted on the official Dorney Park socials featured Park GM Michael Fehnel and Park PR Manager Tana Bartek-Korpics having a jogging exercise around the park in between riding Dorney’s signature coasters.
In the beginning of the video Fehnel and Bartek-Korpics were having a discussion in an office. There were several nods to American Coaster Enthusiasts, a book of world’s best coasters published in 1997, and a computer with RCT2 (Roller Coaster Tycoon 2) playing in the background. From the screen captures of the video, it appears that a large wooden coaster was being built in the game.
Using the screenshot as a reference, the Coaster Nation team was able to recreate the coaster seen on the screen, Take a ride!
Now, as rumors swirl around a 2020 project, Dorney Park hyped up the mystery by ending their recent EastCoaster Presentation in an hilarious manner. Eastcoaster is an off season event held by the American Coaster Enthusiasts non-profit organization. There, representatives of various amusement parks share presentations, sometimes releasing new information about what visitors can expect for the upcoming season.
Obviously, this is not happening for 2019 as construction would have already started, but for 2020 — it’s possible. Either way it’s really neat to see the office monitor coaster come alive!
