Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, And More To Perform At Smoky Mountains Rise Telethon
In the wake of the forest fires that recently swept through the Great Smoky Mountains, Dolly Parton, with the help of the Dollywood Foundation, The Dollywood Company, and Dolly Parton’s dinner theaters has set up a My People Fund to benefit those families who have lost their homes to the fires. Dolly feels a strong connection to her people in the Smoky Mountains and wanted to lend a hand to families in need:
“My home in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee is some place special,” Parton said. “Wildfires have affected many of the people—my people—who live in those beautiful mountains. We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. I know it has been a trying time for my people and this assistance will help get them back on their feet.”
The My People Fund will provide families in Sevier County who’s homes are uninhabitable or were destroyed in the recent fires $1000 a month until they are able to get back on their feet. You can listen to Dolly Parton talk about the fund below!
On Tuesday, December 13 at 8 p.m. (EST), Great American Country will be broadcasting Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund.
