Cedar Point’s Blue Streak Recognized As Roller Coaster Landmark

Today, the American Coaster Enthusiasts (the world’s largest ride organization) recognized Cedar Point’s Blue Streak, as an official ACE Roller Coaster Landmark — one of only 46 in the world.

In an effort to recognize and promote rides that are noteworthy in coaster history, the ACE Roller Coaster Landmark program was established in 2000. This special designation is reserved for rides of historical significance. A permanent historical marker is presented to each park to display as desired, and it serves to educate park guests about the extensive history of the ride. Blue Streak is the 46th roller coaster to receive this honor.

Blue Streak debuted near the Cedar Point’s main entrance and marina on May 23, 1964. The ride was named after Sandusky High School’s athletic team. It originally operated with a natural wood look, but later received its iconic blue color in 1968.

For over fifty years, Blue Streak has provided the classic wooden coaster experience to millions of riders and those little ones moving up to the “next big thrill.”

Founded in 1978, ACE is a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, promotion, appreciation and safe enjoyment of roller coasters.
