Cedar Point Confirms New Changes for 2016!
After reports about Shoot The Rapids, aka STR, being dismantled were recently unleashed, guests at the annual Winter Chill-Out event on Saturday at Cedar Point were able to confirm that news for themselves and then some. The second lift hill and drop have already been removed from the site. The park says the decision was due to rider feedback and low ridership. STR isn’t the only ride getting the axe, as Challenge Racing and Skyscraper in the Challenge Park area will also be removed by the start of the 2016 season. No plans have been released from the park for the ride locations as of yet.

While Shoot The Rapids is coming down, there’s still plenty going up at the site of Valravn and all over the park! We were on hand at Cedar Point’s annual Winter Chill-Out event, which is a ticketed tour that takes guest behind the scenes of the park. During the tour, guests get the scoop on what’s to come for the new season and have the opportunity to take pictures of The Point in hibernation. Included in this are the great fresh paint jobs for Raptor and Top Thrill Dragster! Chill-Out’s ticket sales benefit the A Kid Again charity, which raises money for families who are caring for children with life-threatening illnesses. Cedar Point announced that they raised more than $40,000.00 for the cause from Saturday’s event! There were lots of updates and changes shared on what fans can expect coming up in 2016 and here’s what it’ll look like:
Dodgem bumper cars will get new cars, which will feature seating for two adults, taillights, headlights and a fresh fiberglass finish
Hurricane Hannah’s will be removed and replaced with Coca-Cola Oasis, featuring Coca-Cola Freestyle. The location by the main entrance will be the spot to get Valravn souvenir cups
Fresh Cut French Fry stands will be overhauled and will feature 3-D signs
Ride Warrior Club is an exclusive membership that up to 1,000 extreme Cedar Point fans can sign up for at the price of $120.00. The club allows members access to receive exclusive park access and benefits including private ride time, attending invitation-only events, VIP photo and video opportunities and Q&A sessions with park management
Sunshine Thrills Tour will provide guests the opportunity to see how America’s Roller Coast rise and shine each morning. Specifically with Valravn, coaster freaks will get schooled on the technical operations, ride safety, start-up process and an opportunity to climb the 223 foot tall lift hill!
Chick-Fil-A and Cedar Point have ended their partnership and Frontier Inn will be making a comeback. Chicken fans will still be served like a boss with chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, chicken salads, fries and more on the menu
Luminosity will be bigger and better and All Wheels Extreme will be getting a new stage!
