“Candymonium” Hypercoaster Coming to Hersheypark in Summer 2020
The 2020 amusement park season got a little bit sweeter today with the announcement of Hersheypark’s brand new hypercoaster, Candymonium. The parks 15th coaster, opening in the summer of 2020, will feature a 210 foot lift hill, reach a maximum speed of 76 mph, and a track length of 4,636 feet, making it the tallest, fastest, longest, and sweetest coaster at Hersheypark.
“As The World’s Sweetest Coaster, Candymonium will truly merge fun and iconic Hershey brands to provide a thrilling experience our guests can only get in Hershey,” said John Lawn, president and CEO of Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company (HE&R).
The ride will be manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), manufacturer of rides such as Fury 325, winner of the 2018 Golden Ticket Award for Best Steel Coaster, Apollo’s Chariot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and Leviathan at Canada’s Wonderland.
CandyMonium will open as the main attraction for the park’s brand new Chocolatetown area. Chocolatetown is Hersheypark’s $150 million expansion which will include a new front gate entrance; restaurant, bar and patio; ice cream parlor and confectionery scratch kitchen; a Starbucks; and a flagship retail store with the largest collection of Hersheypark merchandise.
When guests, 54″ and taller, enter the queue for Candymonium they will be treated to the Park’s most extensively themed coaster station to date. The track will also be colored to match the Hershey’s signature milk-chocolate while the trains will be themed to represent the popular Hershey Company brands of Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Twizzlers.
Candymonium starts with a heart-pounding, 210-foot ascent up the tallest hill in Hersheypark before dipping into thrilling drops and a 123-degree hammerhead curve with seven camelback hills serving up the ultimate feeling of freedom with the most airtime in Hersheypark. The ride will finish with a panoramic banked curve that wraps around the new Kisses Fountain at the entrance to Chocolatetown. Can’t wait to ride? Today’s announcement also comes with new programs and perks for 2020 season passes. For the first time, guests can choose between three different pass programs – appropriately named King Size, Full Size, and Bite Size. The King Size program perks include being one of the first to ride Candymonium, free Season Pass Drink Plan and free Hersheypark tickets along with the current benefits like unlimited visits, one-hour early access and free parking for Season Pass holders.
