California’s Great America 2020 Plans Revealed
It’s been less than a month into 2019, and we already have clues to what could be installed at parks in 2020. According to documents filed to the Santa Clara permit office, California’s Great America filed documents to “Construct a (n) one story building with basement for drop slides equipment & mechanical equipment building to serve future drop slides“.
If this document is accurate, it seems that the park will receive Drop Slides similar to those installed at other Cedar Fair parks. The addition would also likely bring in a new name for the waterpark, as it is still named Boomerang Bay from the Paramount era.

UPDATE (4/14/19): It seems that more is in the works than just a drop slide complex. Additional permits filed to Santa Clara government indicated the park also is looking to build: “Alter (e) pool and install (n) kiddie slides, mechanical equipment and plumbing for mechanical room. – SEE BLD2018-52117 for Mechanical Room and electrical for pumps”. Furthermore, the name of the 2020 project has been updated on the original submission as – “Waterpark Renovation project ‘Great America'”.
