Busch Gardens Williamsburg Introduces New Virtual Reality Ride
Busch Gardens Williamsburg has debuted their new Virtual Reality ride, Battle for Eire, to rave reviews!
The revolutionary new attraction, Battle for Eire, is the next step in dark ride attractions. The ride is a combination of 360 degree virtual reality headsets with a motion based theater simulator. Riders are immersed the adventure of Addie, the last fairy guardian of Ireland, as she tries to recover the sacred Heart of Eire from the evil villain, Balor.
If you haven’t experienced a virtual reality ride yet — VR for short — you’re not alone. Statistics show that only 5 to 6 percent of people in the U.S. have tried virtual reality.
For a lot of people walking through the park, this will be their very first time seeing something like this. It’s not only the complete virtual reality experience, but Busch Gardens layered it with a great story, flight simulation, and even wind effects.
While each person’s experience will be different, the basics of the myth include riding a dragon and joining the battle to rescue the sacred Heart of Eire, the source for all magic in Ireland.
“We can’t wait to share this ride with our guests. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind attraction with so many features and surprises, you’ll want to experience it again and again. And Battle For Eire is just the start of all the fun,” stated Busch Gardens Williamsburg President Kevin Lembke.
Along with the new attraction, a new laser light pyrotechnic show will debut at the open-air Royal Palace Theatre. The nightly show runs from July 6 through Aug. 12. The high-energy show will wow park-goers with the best in laser light and pyrotechnic technology.
The park also has several large events scheduled this year, the highlights being:
