Busch Gardens Williamsburg Debuts New Wooden Coaster POV Video
Last month, Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced that they are indeed getting a wooden coaster! In a strategic marketing plan, fans got to vote to decide the name of the new woodie! After hundreds of thousands of votes, Busch Gardens announced that fans have selected the name “InvadR” for their new ride. Today, Busch Gardens Williamsburg released an animated InvadR POV video which presents a detailed look at the park’s 2017 wooden roller coaster.
The new ride built by Great Coasters International will be located in the New France village section of the park. A great upside is the existing nearby rides won’t need to close during construction.
The POV wasn’t the only detail realsed today. The park also revealed that InvadR will have a taller drop than the originally announced 74 feet!
“InvadR will feature steel supports, a wooden track and an 81-foot drop (higher than the originally estimated drop of 74 feet).”
The coaster will indeed be a wooden structure but will have steel supports. The coaster boasts of 2,100 feet of track that’ll roll guests through the topography of Busch Gardens, then underground via a tunnel and up-close and personal with the Le Scoot log flume ride and the Busch Gardens Railway.
If this coaster is anything similar to White Lightning in Florida, it’s sure to be a winner! White Lightning, also built by GCI, is one of our favorite woodies, yet it’s not the tallest, fastest, or any of the aforementioned. It’s simply FUN! So, we have high hopes that InvadR will take on some of those same amazing characteristics to make this another world class coaster!
The park is looking to rev-up high interest in their new attraction to be a follow-up to the exciting Tempesto, which opened to much excitement and intrigue last year.
