Big Changes Coming To Cedar Point In 2018
Today, we learned from Cedar Point’s Communications Director, Tony Clark — that guests will notice some big changes when the park opens for the 2018 season. First, The Sandcastle Suites hotel along with the adjacent Breakwater Café building, will be both be demolished during this off season. The last guests ever, checked out this past Sunday.
In addition, the Extreme Sports Stadium will also be demolished. The stadium once housed a dolphin show as well as a dive show before it became home to All Wheels Extreme most recently. Now, the stadium will make way for new changes in the coming years.
Finally, the park announced the extension of their boardwalk. Currently, it runs from Sandcastle Suites in front of Hotel Breakers before stopping at Windseeker. During the winter, it will be extended to connect directly to the main parking lot offering guests direct access to the Cedar Point Beach.
These updates definitely left us all with more questions than details, but it sounds like the park is gearing up for a fantastic 150th celebration in 2020 to us! Before we get too excited about that, in 2018, coaster fans will be blessed with Steel Vengeance; the world’s first steel-on-wood hybrid roller coaster to stand over 200 feet tall!
