Alabama Adventure Teases “Biggest Addition Since Park’s Beginning”
Ever since the Koch family obtained Alabama Adventure & Splash Adventure in 2014, the park has been rapidly expanding. Through the addition of new waterslides and rides, the park is quickly becoming one of the largest parks on the Gulf Coast — and there is still more to come!
In a cryptic post to Facebook, the park teased a new addition that would “change the park forever”. The video, although brief, is the beginning of a teaser campaign for a new attraction.
The video features several clues of what’s to come. A present is placed on what appears to be the remains of the park’s former flume ride, which closed before the Koch family acquired the park. While it appears that the location is in the dry rides section of the park, it is in fact on the border of the ride section and the waterpark.

That begs the question of what could the park be adding in 2021? The park has provided some tantalizing hints during a 2019 Winter Warm-Up Event. During the event, the park highlighted work that was being done prior to the 2019 season in a presentation by Michael Schwitek and park owner Dan Koch. However, at the end of the presentation, Mr. Koch revealed that new improvements were “in their crosshairs”. Furthermore, he mentioned ProSlide’s Water Coaster, Gerstlauer, and Gravity Group.
Further discussion elaborated the scale of the potential addition. It was stated that a Gravity Group coaster would be a good potential “entry coaster” — while any Gerstlauer built would be similar to Adrenaline Peak at Oaks Park or Iron Shark at Galveston Pleasure Pier. It was mentioned that the ride could fit on the site of the former Vekoma Boomerang, which is not the site that is currently being hinted in the teaser campaign.
It seems that some BIG things could be in the works for Alabama Adventure. Whatever is being added, we’re sure it’ll be well received and open the next chapter in this growing Alabama park!
